HAPPY EASTER! GO EASY ON THE CHOCOLATE EGGS!

Happy Easter!

But have you ever thought about the preoccupation we have with chocolate eggs? Commercialism at its best! Enjoy sharing food and good times with family over a celebratory meal!  Go easy on the chocolate though! High in fat and if not the dark chocolate that is high in antioxidants it is high in kj with limited nutritional value. Also try not to be wasteful.....
When i have heaps chocolate left over i do not let it go to waste but make chocolate fudge sauce by combining melted chokky eggs with cream and some brown sugar or i melt the cracked chocolate eggs and combine with marshmallows, macademias, turkicsh delight etc to make my version of rocky road!
Try decorating eggs instead! Use your creativity and they are better for you and a great way of recycling egg shells!

Have a look at this new food model Ms Banks found...FOOD FOR THOUGHT! Promotes more natural and chemical free food! Less processed food and plenty of vegetables...and geting heaps of sleep is very important too!

Enjoy the holiday break!

Year 11 visit Grainstore Bakery and do SAC 1!

The Grainstore Bakery visit Moday week ago was very informative. Brad the manager and baker provided year 11 students with some detailed info on how a food establishement provides a safe & hygienic food supply. Year 11 students followed this up with a SAC which required them to create an informative and visually effective manual or guide for workers in the fomat of a Ppt on the following aspects-
safe food preparation, personal hygiene, safe food handling, safe & hygienic use of tools and equipment, safe storage, waste management & pest control etc

There was great presentations and in particular-

Jordan & Aristea, Brittany & Stella & Emma & Cassie created very informative and well presented manuals!

Well done team!
