GINGERBREAD OUT OF CONTROL ON LAST DAY OF TERM 2!

Today was the last practical session for Ms Stubbs' year 9 Food Technology class and they made Gingerbread people. The recipe consisted of 1/2 cup butter melted with 1/2 cup golden syrup then mixed into a firm dough with 2 1/2  cups plain flour sifted with 1/2 tsp baking powder , 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp bicarb, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 cup brown sugar then combined with beaten egg into the already cooled syrup butter mix. Put in fridge to chill, roll then cut and bake 12-15 minutes at 180 Celcius.
Everyone had a great success and a lot of fun on our last day of food tech and term 2. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe hoilday. Keep cooking look below for templetes for making a ginger bread house. Try this at home and all the recipes you have learnt this semester which are on compass.

Stubbs' Budding Masterchefs Cook up a Storm!

This day my year 9 class cooked up a storm. They worked collaboratively in small teams to investigate, design, produce and evaluate a 2 course healthy menu that consisted of main course and desert. There was great variety and the meals were mostly low in fat and high in nutrition.

Look at the mouth watering results below! Ranging from healthy pasta dishes to chicken parma...stuffed spinach chicken and healthy sides to yummy deserts like yogurt berry parfait, meringue nests and gorgeous apple berry crumbles.

Great work team!!!!! Good luck in your home cooking endeavours!

Year 9 Kitchen Rulers 2013 semester 1!

The meal planning activity was a hoot! When Joshua Richards, Melanie M, Kyle Hoath and Jack Elliott walked into that food tech kitchen, they were on fire!
It's almost like they were in a raging war for kitchen supremacy? They showed such great intensity and aggression on those utensils......chopping boards, knives, saucepans were flying!
Joshua R was clearly leading by example as the better cook, leading his team into the trenches. The team showed such amazing teamwork and leadership to complete the most supreme recipe of Chicken Parmagiana and Potato Wedges with Mixed salad and a gorgeous Meringue nest with mixed berries and ice cream. Yummo! Try this at home next time you are whipping up a quick dinner for family or friends!
